The walk down Stockyard Spur to Garie Beach is an excellent way to take in coastal views before following the Coastal Track. This is great if you are with a driver who is happy to drop you and wait for you are Garie Beach, or if you can do a car shuffle. You can always just walk back up. There are plenty of opportunities to get your feet wet if you wish to cool down on the walk, and you can see some of the houses built during the depression at north Era and LIttle Garie.

From the intersection the track heads west across Garie Rd. The track then continues for approximately 200m along a service trail marked with many 'No Stopping' signs. The continues relatively flatly or down hill to where the track service track begins a small rise. At the bottom of the rise is the intersection.

From the intersection the track heads south east across the ridge line for approximately 50m before heading down the hill. The track follows the top of the spur, winding down through many large rocks for approximately the first 100m. The track continues south east down the hill to an area of with an open forest floor. After approximately 100m of track the forest floor becomes thick with grasses. The track continues through these grasses to an open canopy which overlooks houses to the right of the spur. The track then heads up through the open grass area to the top of an implied knoll to the intersection. From the top of the spur the track descends the hill to the east towards the buildings. At the bottom of the hill the track comes to a sign saying North Era Bush Campground.

North Era camping ground, Royal National Park, is a large dune area situated directly behind North Era Beach. This camping spot is popular with surfers, and it also has a toilet and a cleared area to pitch your tent. A maximium of 60 people can camp here, so there is plenty of room for everyone.

From North-Era Bush Campground the track heads north-east along North Era Beach until the end where it steeply goes up the hill until the to. he hill wooden steps have been installed. Once at the top there is a seat and this perfectly compliments the great views over the Pacific Ocean and the region. From here the track immediately heads steeply down the other side of the hill following the bushtrack. To prevent erosion of the hill wooden steps have been installed. This continues until reaching the intersection with the bushtrack, just beyond the Little Garie Community Hall.

From the intersection, just to the north-west of the Little Garie Community Hall, the track heads down the hill to the north, going towards the water. This passes several old Depression Houses until at the bottom the track passes a Coast Walk sign, providing information on the cliff erosion issues in the area. From here the track heads to the north-east between the water and the hill along a very narrow trail. his section of the track is quite pleasant as the trail is very flat allowing time to check out the surrounding cliffs from the waterlevel. This continues until the track arrives in the Garie Bech Carpark.

Garie Beach, Royal National Park, is a large south east facing beach. The beach is backed by steep headlands and gullys, which allow access by road and to the numerous cabins on the hillsides. Garie Beach is a popular surfing beach, which is patrolled 9am-5pm from December to January. The new car park creates plenty of parking to compliment the new toilet facilities, kiosk and Surf Life Saving Club.
