Berowra Valley National Park
Following the Berowra Creek the Berowra Valley National Park is located on the Hornsby Plateau and is made up of typical Hawkesbury Sandstone. The great North walk, Benowie walking track, and many other great walks stretch spann this park. The area has varied vegetation including many different sorts of Eucalyptus and plenty of native animals, includingl swamp wallibies, water dragons, bandicoots, Lyre Birds, and bush turkeys. There are several campsites within the Park, and Crosslands Reserve is also a popular spot near the middle of the park.

Hazard reduction burns: Sams Creek HRThere is a planned Hazard Reduction burn in this park from 19/03/2025. The fire is called Sams Creek HR. Refer to the
Rural Fire Service for latest information. Do not enter any closed area or area with fire. If you see an unattended fire call Triple Zero (000).

Closed areas: Sams Creek hazard reduction in Berowra Valley National ParkSome parts of Berowra Valley National Park are closed for hazard reduction burning from Wednesday 19 March 2025. The burn is bounded by the Berkeley train and Sams trail to the north, Bambil and Hamley trail to the east, interface with the industrial estate in the south and Beaumont trail-Beaumont East trail to the west.
To undertake this burn the following tracks and trails will be closed:
- Berkeley trail between Ti Tree Crescent and Crowley walking track junction.
- Cumbora track
- Sams Creek trail
- Gundah Ridge trail
- Bali Permieter trail
- The Great North Walk between Crosslands and Berkeley trail.
- The Lyre Bird Gully Access trail.
- Bambil trail
- Beaumont trail
- Mundowi trail
Walkers heading north from Berowra to Berowra Waters can walk via Crowley trail, Berkeley trail, and follow the Great North Walk to Berowra Waters.
Walkers are advised to take a detour via train between Asquith and Berowra Station.

Safety alerts: Swimming safety in Berowra Valley National ParkSwimming is not advisable in Berowra Creek at certain times as the water may be subject to variable pollution levels and algal blooms. Please refer to the
Hornsby Shire Council website before swimming in Berowra Creek. Alternatively you can call the Hornsby Council 24 hour information line on 9847 6666 or the Algal information line on 1800 999 457.
Swimming at Fishponds is not advised at any time due to heavy water pollution.
