Berowra Valley National Park

Following the Berowra Creek the Berowra Valley National Park is located on the Hornsby Plateau and is made up of typical Hawkesbury Sandstone. The great North walk, Benowie walking track, and many other great walks stretch spann this park. The area has varied vegetation including many different sorts of Eucalyptus and plenty of native animals, includingl swamp wallibies, water dragons, bandicoots, Lyre Birds, and bush turkeys. There are several campsites within the Park, and Crosslands Reserve is also a popular spot near the middle of the park.

Closed areas: Western trail closed
Western trail in Berowra Valley National Park is closed from Monday 13 September to Friday 1 October 2021 while the track is being upgraded.

Closed areas: Maintenance works on Ulolo trail
From Monday 6 September 2021 maintenance work will be carried out along Ulolo trail in Berowra Valley National Park. The trail will be closed between 7am and 4pm on weekdays. It will be open on weekends. The work will be completed by Tuesday 21 September 2021.

Closed areas: Maintenance works on Simon trail
Simon trail is closed between 7am and 4pm on weekdays from Monday 30 August to Friday 24 September 2021.
The trail will be open on weekends. This closure may be extended.

Other planned events: Berkely trail upgrades and maintenance
From Tuesday 18 May 2021 upgrade works will be happening on Berkely fire trail in Berowra Valley National Park, until further notice. The work is focused on improving accessibility for fire-fighting vehicles. During this time vegetation management works will also be happening on the side of the trail. 
Please take care around moving machinery and tree crews, and wait for instructions from staff before passing.

Safety alerts: Swimming safety in Berowra Valley National Park
Swimming is not advisable in Berowra Creek at certain times as the water may be subject to variable pollution levels and algal blooms. Please refer to the Hornsby Shire Council website before swimming in Berowra Creek. Alternatively you can call the Hornsby Council 24 hour information line on 9847 6666 or the Algal information line on 1800 999 457.
Swimming at Fishponds is not advised at any time due to heavy water pollution.
