Cambridge Plateau rest area
There is often water on-site but it is not suitable for drinking. You are not allowed to collect firewood, so you’ll need to bring your own wood if you want a campfire.

Access to Peacock Creek campground is limited due to road damage and wet weather impacts.
Please note:
- Peacock Creek Road is high clearance 4WD access only due to water over creek crossings
- Iron Pot Creek Road is 4WD access only due to severe road surface damage and gullying
- Sextonville Road has limited 2WD access. Current road conditions are unsuitable for small cars due to erosion and storm damage to the road surface.
Closed areas: Culmaran Valley track closed
Culmaran Valley track is closed due to faults in the track on the bridge. This closure will continue until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience. For further information call the NPWS Kyogle office on 02 6632 0000.
Safety alerts: Limited access through Iron Pot Creek Road
Sections of Iron Pot Creek Road through Richmond Range State Forest are in very poor condition and impassable without a high clearance 4WD vehicle. There is no through access to Toonumbar National Park from Richmond Range National Park via Iron Pot Creek Road.
To access Peacock Creek campground, use:
- Sextonville Road from the east
- Peacock Creek Road from the west
- Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive from the Bruxner Highway in the north.
