Lane Cove National Park
Track: Moderate
Following a section of the Great North Walk this popular walk is well signposted and maintained. There are good views of the Lane Cove River as the track passes along the side of the ridge to the north. In several sections the track goes down to smaller creeks (some of which are polluted). Watch these creeks after rain as the boulders and small bridges can become quite slippery.
Bushwalking can be fun and interesting when you are well prepared. Please ensure you and your group are well prepared and equipped for all possible dangers. Distance = 1 km
Time = 20 mins
Climb = 36 m
Descent = -42 m
From the end of Kissing Pt Rd the track heads down the asphalt servicetrail for several hundred metres. This is a gradual decline that passes several houses before just after crossing a small creek comes to an intersection with a bushtrack going off to the east. From the intersection the track heads east along the servicetrail. Approximately 10m along this trail there is a small intersection with a small bushtrack. (This bushtrack is is the unmaintained pipe track that crosses the Lane Cove River.) The track however follows the main service trail that generally heads east before coming to an intersection with the end of Koombalah St, Turramurra. This is intersection is marked with a large boom gate.
(1.04 km) Int of GNW and Koombalah Av to Int. of GNW and Yanko Rd Servicetrail Track: Moderate - servicetrail, bushtrack
Distance = 0.5 km
Time = 10 mins
Climb = 20 m
Descent = -45 m
From the end of Koombalah Rd the track heads south-east for a short while along the servicetrail. This begins by gradually descending and then steeply climbing until coming to the intersection. This is marked with Great North Walk markers. From the intersection the track heads south down the bushtrack following the Great North markers until reaching a small creek. The track crosses the creek on a small metal bridge (beware of this crossing during or after heavy rain as it is potentially dangerous). On the other side of the creek the track climbs the opposite side using a gradual set of log stairs and continues until the track meets up with a servicetrail. The intersection is marked with a large information sign on walks in the area. From here the track heads south (right) along the servicetrail for approximately 50m until coming to an intersection with another servicetrail.

Distance = 0.5 km

From the clearly signposted intersection (a large Great North Walk signpost), the track heads south-east. During this component there are numerous instances where the track changes from being a servicetrail to being a bushtrack and back again. This continues until the track becomes consistently bushtrack and at various points this goes into quite wet sections due to the surrounding cliffs in some points forming waterfalls. Along the way the track mostly runs parralell with Lane Cove River. Once on the last bit of servicetrail the track heads north for 150m until coming to an intersection with another servicetrail that goes up to Gloucester Av, Pymble.
