This walk is a scenic route to the secluded Flint and Steel Beach with views across the Hawkesbury River to landmarks such as Lion Island, Patonga and Box Head. The walk passes through palm, pine and grass trees with a contrast of burnt and unburnt bush on either side of the track.

The track starts in the far corner of the car park heading north west down the hill. The track drops down some stairs turning right at the old Ku-ring-gai chase sign then left down the side of the ridge. After about 100m the track heads down a set of stairs that divides the burnt bush of the left with the unburnt pine of the right. Soon after the set of stairs the track continues down a bushtrack until the Flint and Steel Beach/Bay sign above the saddle.
(0.32 km) Signpost at Saddle to Flint and Steel beach Track: Moderate - Bush Track

From the Flint and Steel Beach/ Bay sign the track heads north through a palm grove at the far side of the saddle. The track continues north along the ridge with views across Hawkesbury River to Lion Island. The track runs parallel to rock formations on the left before it winds its way throguh trees and rocks to a spur. The track heads down the spur and over a railed boardwalk with rocks to the left. The track then leads down the hill through pine trees a clearing opposite some boulders on the left.
From the intersection in the clearing the track heads down the spur towards the beach. The track splits left and right to join again approximately 5m below. The rejoined track then descends to a rock shelf above the waterline. The track follows this rock shelf for approximately 20m to Flint and Steel Beach.

Flint and Steel Beach, Ku-ring-gai National Park, is a small north east facing stretch of sand. The beach is hemmed in by prominant headlands at either side and backed by a grassy hill. A seat on the grassy hill lends views over the Hawkesbury River to Patonga and Lion Island with Box Head in the background.
