Exploring Cockle Creek at waterlevel and Ku-Ring-Gai National Park from the ridge this is a good short walk to the area. Unfortunately, public transport to Bobbin Head is quite difficult. Pop into the cafe at Bobbin Head for a cup of coffee or a light meal. The short sidetrip to the lookout up on the ridge has an amazing view.

(0 km) Bobbin Head Kiosk to Apple Tree Bay Path: Easy - Wheelchair accessible - road

From the Kiosk at the end of Bobbin Head Drive the track heads north along Rd. This goes up slightly before curving around to the north-west following Cowan Creek. In the final section the track follows the track down and into Apple Tree Bay. In the northern part of the park there is a small bridge that crosses Apple Tree Creek.
(1.47 km) Apple Tree Bay to Int of Mt Ku Ring Gai & Berowra Tracks Track: Moderate - Bush Track

From the northern end of Apple Tree Bay this track begins by crossing a small footbridge over Apple Tree Bay. This is marked by a large sign giving information on the area. Having crossed the creek the track heads north-east running parallel to Cowan Creek along a narrow bushtrack until coming to a signposted intersection ("Mt Ku-ring-gai Track"). The track during this section is well maintain however there are still various obstacles including boulders along the way that need to be stepped over.
(2.33 km) Int of Mt Ku Ring Gai & Berowra Tracks to Int of Lookout and Mt Ku Ring Gai Tracks Track: Moderate - Bush Track

From the intersection the track heads west steeply up the hill away from Cowan Creek (following the Mt Ku Ring Gai sign). The narrow bushtrack inititally zig-zags up to the ridgeline then flattensout but still continues to rise slightly along a wider bushtrack. In various parts of this section the track is quite bumpy due to loose rocks. After passing the large gully on the left the track comes to and intersection with a small service trail off to the left.

From the intersection the track heads east for approximately 100m before coming to a rockshelf offering magnificent views over Cowan Creek.

From the intersection the track heads south-west along the servicetrail until coming to a large sign stating 'Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park'. Just beyond this is the end of Harwood Av, Mt Ku-ring-gai

From the end of Harwood Av head west along the footpath until coming to the end of the road and the beginning of an overpass that crosses the Sydney to Newcastle Freeway. Cross the overpass and continue through the tunnel to Mt Ku-ring-gai Railway Station.
