This relatively flat walk takes you through some woodland forest, open shrub and rock platforms to a lookout. The views look the Basin, Narrabeen and north up the Pitt Water. The track is well defined, and the views are well worth the walk

The Bairne service trail meanders westwards along the top of the ridge. The track is very well defined and pretty flat, it heads through woodlands and open terrain. It then intersects with an unnamed track that heads south (to Towlers Bay lookout), (Bairne track continues north east) there is a sign that says Soldier point and Portuguise tracks to the left to mark this intersection
(2.5 km) Towlers Bay lookout track to Lookout (end) Track: Moderate - Service Trail

At the intersection with the un-named track, head east for a few hundred meters then north staying on the main track (avoid the track to the east soon after the intersection). The will be through moslty low scrub but will head into treed sections. Stop before the path tends North west and down a steep section, (the path continues down a steep section to Bonnie Doon) you will find a few nice places to enjoy the obsecured view of the basin, there are a few grassy areas and rocky platforms that would make a nice lunch spot
