This walk explores the area around the wonderful Leura Cascades. The track includes many of the great viewing points for the falls. The walk also provides some other great views out across the Jamison Valley. A wonderful walk to enjoy the Bridal View lookout.

Carrington Park is a medium-sized park on a traffic island, at the junction of Cliff Road and Merriwa St, Katoomba. The park is partially fenced and has a picnic shelter, picnic tables, garbage bins and children's play equipment.

From Carrington Park, the walk crosses Cliff Drive and goes down the stairs and past the sign for 'Blue Mountains National Park'. The walk continues down the stairs until reaching an intersection signposted with the way to 'Echo Point' or 'Leura Cascades'. From the intersection, this walk follows the 'Leura Cascades 1km' sign down the wooden steps and along the bush track, winding through the forest until coming to the signposted intersection of the 'Leura Forest' Track. From the intersection, this walk follows the 'Leura Cascades' sign along the well-defined bush track, winding through the bush to the signposted intersection of the Echo Tree track at the bottom of the short set of stairs. From the intersection, this walk follows the short set of wooden steps up to Cliff Drive, opposite the car park behind Solitary Restaurant.
Solitary Kiosk and Restaurant

Solitary Restaurant offers fine dining in a heritage-listed building overlooking the beautiful Jamison Valley, as well as housing a kiosk for a more casual lunch. The kiosk is open for lunch 7 days a week, from 10am to 4pm (opens 11am weekdays in winter). The kiosk provides a casual dinning experience, with breakfast foods from $10 and lunches around $15 per dish. The restaurant is open for lunch 7 days from 12-4.30pm, and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm. Light lunches start from $14, and dinners from $55 for a mouth-watering 2 course meal. Fossil Rock

Fossil Rock is a fenced lookout along Prince Henry Cliff Walk, near Katoomba. The lookout is close to Cliff Drive and gives great views along the Jamison Valley and over Mount Solitary, and along the far end of Kings Tableland. The sandstone floor of the lookout is mostly natural and has a few steps cut in it. The rock provides some natural sculptures to enjoy.

From the intersection, this walk follows 'Round Walk - Leura Cascades' sign along the lower track. The track gently heads down the hill for a short while before winding down the stairs to come to a four-way intersection and a sign pointing back up to 'Round Walk - Echo Point'.

From the lookout, this walk heads down the metal staircase. The walk then turns right (at the cave with the old bench seat) and heads down the steps as they wind down the hill to another fenced (unsignposted) lookout at the top of Bridal Veil Falls.
From this lookout, the walk follows the dirt track, keeping the handrail and creek to the right. The walk then heads up the steps to cross a bridge and come to an intersection (with another bridge) at the base of Leura Cascades.
Leura Cascades

Leura Cascades is a lovely set of waterfalls with some bridges just below, allowing walkers to get up close to the creek. The area has a nice feel about it and is quite cool in summer. Much of the track near the cascades has handrails and the bridges are fenced. Allow some time to enjoy life among the cascades and fern trees in this valley. One bridge leads to a sandstone cave next to the pool and falls, a great place to enjoy the small section of canyon.

From the bottom of the Leura Cascades, this walk heads up the timber steps to a rock platform at the top of the falls, and more nice cascades.
From these cascades, the walk follows the steps upstream (keep the creek on the left). The walk heads up some timber stairs and then along a track, with glimpses down to the creek. The track then comes to an intersection with the 'Prince Henry Cliff Walk' just before the footbridge. From the intersection, this walk follows the 'Prince Henry Cliff Walk To Gordon Falls' sign up the timber steps. The walk continues along the bush track that steadily climbs to the top of the gentle hill, where it comes to an intersection with the Cliff Drive bush track. From the intersection, the track follows the bush track heading around the side of the hill, winding through the bush until it comes to the intersection of the short bush track to Cliff Drive.

The Rock

The Rock is a small, partially-fenced lookout, about 10meters from the Prince Henry Cliff Walk near Bridal Veil Falls. The old timber fence only partially covers the cliff line and the walk to the lookout can be slippery. The view from the lookout includes close-up views of the crowns of several trees. There is no view of Bridal Veil Falls, but the view does extend across to the cliffs at Bridal View Lookout.

The Rock

From the lookout, this walk follows the bush track winding around the valley, down to the right, heading under a large rock overhang and continuing steadily up the long rocky hill to the signposted intersection of the Bridal View Lookout. From the intersection, the walk follows the 'Bridal View Lookout' sign along the track, heading out towards the cliffs for a short while before winding down a set of metal stairs to the signposted 'Bridal Veil View' lookout.
Bridal Veil View Lookout

The Bridal Veil View is a small, fenced lookout at the base of a flight of stairs in the south-west corner of Leura. The lookout has a natural sandstone floor and provides superb, unobstructed view of the Bridal Veil Falls. The falls are about 150m away, and looking down from the top, the Bridal Veil likeness is apparent. The falls run most of the time, but are most spectacular after rain.

Fire Danger This walk passes Greater Sydney Region fire area which currently has a LOW-MODERATE rating and No Ban in place. (Checked 46 minutes ago) Please Note: Each park may have its own fire ban status, this rating is based on information from the RFS and BOM.
Attracting over 3 million visitors annually, Blue Mountains National Park holds some of Australia's most spectacular and diverse wilderness areas. Explore the Grose Valley, with its sheer sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and scenic walking, or enjoy the famous views of the Three Sisters. Easy access makes a day trips very worthwhile, but with such diversity it would be great to stay in one of the many B&B's and spend a few days soaking up the region.

Breakfast Point Lookout
Breakfast Point Lookout at Wentworth Falls is CLOSED until further notice.
Grand Canyon Track
Due to track restoration works the Grand Canyon track is completely CLOSED whilst major resoration works take place.
From January 11th until further notice:
There is no access for canyoners (7 days)
There is no access for walkers (7 days) from either end of the track.
There is no access to the Grose Valley from Evans Lookout via Grand Canyon
Current works will be completed by end of June 2010.
Other closure information
Burralow Picnic and Camping Area has RE-OPENED. Access is 4WD only, please take care using this trail.
The Giant Stairway and Dardanelles Pass (between Leura Forest and Federal Pass/Dardanelles Junction) will be CLOSED for trackwork for approximately two hours on Monday 15 March 2010. An exact time for the closure cannot be given at this stage, but please expect the delay from approximately 9am.
The Braeside Fire Trail at Blackheath, is CLOSED for a pest management program, until approximately Friday 19 March. There is no access for vehicles, walkers or bike riders.When the pest management program has been completed the fire trail access will be restricted to 4WD until we can upgrade the causeway, due to flood damage.
The Braeside walking track is OPEN - access is from the Cliff Top Track only – return by same route.
Due to storm damage and flooding areas of the park are CLOSED. Visitors are advised not to enter canyons or attempt to cross flooded creeks and rivers. The following areas are CLOSED until further notice:
