This is a direct walk down from the Lane Cove Tourist Park to the Lane Cove River Boat Shed. The walk meanders along the placid Lane Cove River passing many picnic areas along the way. The Boat Shed itself is surrounded by a large picnic area with plenty of space for the kids to run around and play. You can hire a boat and go for a paddle.
Please note: This is a 'return' style walk and therefore these graphs only show the terrain for the first half of the walk (until the turn around point.)

From the intersection between sites 152 and 151 the track heads down the stairs tending right for approximately 100m to the sign posted intersection. From the intersection the track follows the sign to Lane Cove River Weir. The track contours across the hill for approximately 100m to a metal bridge. The track crosses the bridge and then winds left, down to the road. From the intersection the track crosses the road to follow the road down past the sign '12. Blackbutt'. The track passes the sign to continue down to Cottonwood Glen picnic area. From the clearing the track passes through the clearing and over a small bridge. The track continues through a caldasac to return to bushtrack. the track follows the river bank for approximately 200m to another grassed picnic area, Carters Creek.

From Carters Creek picnic area the track heads south across the grass clearing. The track comes to a fork in the road. This is where teh track passes the gate on the left to continue for approximately 100m to an intersection with a footpath, just before the Ironbarks sign in the picnic area. From the intersection at Ironbarks picnic area the track passes through the clearing to climb up through a rocky outcrop. The track then winds up to a rockshelf before descending to the river bank once again. Along the river bank the track winds for a short time before opening out onto a grass clearing. The track continues through the clearing to a large flat roofed structure, the Boat Shed.

Lane Cove Boat Shed, Lane Cove National Park, is situated on the bank of the similarly named river. Rowboats, kayaks, bikes, canoes and more can be hired from the shed. You can also buy ice-creams, chips and drinks. The shed is open on Saturdays 12.00 pm to 5.00 pm and on Sundays 10.30 am to 5.00 pm.
